Mid-Spring Lawn Update

We wanted to share a quick update on what we’re observing across North Texas lawns this mid-spring season.
In our latest informative video, our Founder and President Ken Hyatt reports that many St. Augustine and Zoysia lawns have experienced considerable freeze damage from the dramatic temperature swings in February, when temperatures plummeted from the mid-80s to as low as 10-15°F. Lawns installed in spring 2024 have been particularly affected, as their root systems weren’t fully developed enough to withstand these harsh conditions.

The good news is that with our current warm May weather, recovery is underway:
• St. Augustine, being an aggressive tropical plant, is bouncing back quickly
• Zoysia, true to its slower-growing nature, will take a few more weeks to fully recover

Ken reminds us that May through September is our peak growing season. To ensure your lawn recovers completely, consistent watering during the rainless summer months of June, July, and August will be crucial.
