Mushrooms in Your Lawn? Here’s What You Need to Know

We’ve received many calls from homeowners worried about the mushrooms popping up in their lawns, so we wanted to address this topic. In today’s quick tip video, Ken will tell you everything you need to know about mushrooms in your lawn. Are they harmful? Should you be worried? And what can you do about them?

Mushrooms are often a sign of organic material decomposing in your lawn. This could be leftover lumber from home construction, decaying roots from a tree cut down, or any organic matter in the soil. While mushrooms may look unsightly popping up across your yard, they are generally harmless to the health of your grass. In most cases, they will leave alone within a week or two. If the mushrooms bother you, try kicking them over or mowing them down. Applying a fungicide is another option, but it’s usually unnecessary since the mushrooms will typically disappear independently.
