Siqi and Linwen have big plans for their place in Lucas. The home sits on a large lot, about one and a half acres, and came with a straightforward builder’s landscape package in the front and no lawn, landscape, or irrigation system in the back.
With big plans for the backyard (playground, dog run, turf, and privacy screening,) they are waiting until next spring to put in a swimming pool which meant our focus this fall was their front landscape.
The home sits on a large lot, and their beautiful home is long, so our design focused on making their beds deeper with straight borders to give the house a contemporary feel.
We added needlepoint hollies on the corners to screen the backyard and frame the home. The couple loves magnolias, so we placed little gem magnolias throughout the bed and some Oklahoma redbud trees to give color.
We used carissa hollies as a medium-sized, mounding evergreen and added sunshine ligustrum, obsession nandina, purple heart, Anthony Waterer spirea, and daylilies for color.
Siqi and Linwen were delighted with our results for their front landscape. We are all looking forward to the next stage of this project – tackling their backyard in spring after the pool goes in.
