Can landscapes be installed in the summer in the Dallas area? The answer is yes, as long as your sprinkler coverage is good and you water the new plants correctly. We installed this landscape a few weeks ago. Since then we’ve had 100 plus degree weather and no rain. Not a single plant is stressed […]
Portulaca, otherwise known as moss rose, is makes a carpet of bright colors – yellow, red, orange and white. They reach about 6″ in height. These love the heat so much they are almost desert plants. You have to make sure they’re in full sun most of the day because as the sun goes down […]
Pentas are another good choice for an annual in a sunny location in the north Dallas area. They reach about 12″ in height and have red, pink and purple blooms. They are very hardy and, since they’re not quite as popular as some annuals, they stand out as a little different from the rest.
Profusion Zinnias are a good choice for an annual in a sunny location in the north Dallas area. They reach about 12″ in height and have warm yellow, orange or white color. As with most summer annuals you have to be careful not to over water them or they’ll develop a fungus.

Our latest landscape job. We’re going from bare dirt and hedges to shade loving ground cover and plants. You can feel like you’re in shady glen now when you pass through.
I know this is more my job than yours but I found this very interesting website that shows lake levels in real time. If you want to see how full our lakes are Click Here
This is a pretty impressive video of how much water can come from a natural spring. We solved it by pumping the water from the reservoir shown in the video to the house sewer line. The pump runs about every 2 or 3 minutes. For years the home has had a constant stream of water […]
This week I asked landscape architect extraordinaire and friend of mine, David Daigle, to give a little information on how to create a great landscape design: Your home can be just as beautiful as any artist’s painting by taking a tip from the painter – create a frame around your home. Consider the bulk of […]
We’re starting a landscape installation in Sachse today. The home has a beautiful stone border but it is too close to the house to allow us to create depth so we’re extending the beds out in front of the stone by eight feet. The builder also used lots of dwarf burfords which are great plants […]
